Board Bio: Brad Carlson
Bradley R. Carlson is a real estate developer, investor and human rights advocate with wide-ranging experience in both the public and private sectors. He is Managing Director of Fortis Development Group, creator of 250 Wynwood, a mixed-used condominium in Miami’s burgeoning Wynwood Arts District.
Bradley has worked with numerous community and government organizations working to combat discrimination and defend human dignity, including the Empire State Pride Agenda, Massachusetts Commission Against Discrimination, Servicemembers Legal Defense Network, and Stonewall Community Foundation, where he served as board president. He was a program officer at The New York Community Trust, where he staffed funding initiatives in the areas of HIV/AIDS, LGBT rights, and race relations. For two years, he co-chaired the Task Force Gala Miami, Florida’s largest LGBT fundraiser. He is a founding board member of Development in Gardening (“DIG”), a non-governmental organization that teaches urban gardening skills to improve the food security of people affected by HIV/AIDS in Sub-Saharan Africa.
Bradley received his Bachelor’s degree from the University of Wisconsin—Madison, and his Master’s degree in Public Policy from the Harvard Kennedy School of Government. He is currently working with the Florida Competes coalition to update Florida’s civil rights law to include sexual orientation and gender identity.
