One for All – The Equality Act
One comprehensive non-discrimination law for ALL LGBTQ people, the Equality Act
Just a few weeks ago, we celebrated the Supreme Court’s decision on marriage equality. It was huge, historic and life-changing for same-sex couples and their families and for the millions of people who believe in the power of love.
Of course, marriage equality isn’t full equality. And the biggest obstacle remaining between LGBTQ people and full equality is discrimination.
The Equality Act, in Congress on July 23, will be an enormous step forward in eliminating discrimination in employment, housing, public accommodations, public funding, credit and education.
Take action now — please urge your members of congress to support this vital law. The more e-mails, the stronger the voice.
A significant majority of people in our nation think discrimination is wrong. They believe it’s wrong that in some states that, just because you’re lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, or queer, you can:
* Get married Saturday and be illegally fired Monday.
* Rent a new home on Tuesday and be evicted Friday.
* Get sick in the morning on Wednesday and be denied treatment in
the afternoon the very same day.
