WASHINGTON-DC: The National LGBTQ Task Force Action Fund’s Executive Director Rea Carey issued the following statement in response to news The Washington Post broke on President Donald Trump’s comments on African nations, Haiti and El Salvador:

Once again Donald Trump has delivered a verbal slap in the faces of immigrants and people of color living in the U.S. and across the world – most recently in Africa, Haiti and El Salvador. His remarks also reaffirm his vehement disregard for those living in poverty at home and abroad.

We join voices across the nation in condemning his heinous remarks and commit to working with many others in ending this scourge of racist rhetoric and policies. Paul Ryan, Mitch McConnell and any other Congressional leaders who have not yet publicly condemned his remarks and committed themselves to taking measures that will combat such bigotry, are making known loud and clear where they stand on these basic moral issues. And if they’re not persuaded by morality, then they should be reminded and put on notice that November 2018 and November 2020 are just around the corner.
