National LGBTQ Task Force Action Fund To Join Rally to #ProtectOurCare in DC at 5PM ET

WASHINGTON, DC, July 26, 2017: Yesterday, 50 Senators and Vice President Pence as the 51st vote pulled a fast one on the public by making a key procedural vote to move forward on a ‘mystery bill’ intended to repeal the Affordable Care Act (ACA).

Today, and over the next few days, Republicans will be trying to insert substance into that bill. Whether repeal-and-replace, repeal-and-delay, or a ‘skinny repeal’ – every attempt would utterly erode access to care for people who need it most and could increase the number of people without insurance by 32 million, including over 1 million LGBTQ people. The Senate’s actions will harm LGBTQ people, low-income families, people of color, and particularly people with disabilities.

“It is astounding and disappointing that today, on the 27th anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act – the first law to comprehensively protect the civil rights of people with disabilities – is the day that Senators might vote to undermine the very care that so many people with disabilities rely on,” said Candace Bond-Theriault, our Senior Policy Counsel for Reproductive, Health, Rights & Justice.
As the Senate goes through this unprecedented facade of a legislative process, we must remain vigilant – because everything they have proposed thus far would devastate the health, wellbeing and dignity of our community.

Today, July 26th, the National LGBTQ Task Force Action Fund will be joining Planned Parenthood Action Fund’s Not Backing Down: Rally to #ProtectOurCare

WHEN: 5PM-6:30PM ET
WHERE: Capitol Grounds, Upper Senate Park
WHAT: Rally to let politicians know that they can’t take our health care away.

The National LGBTQ Task Force Action Fund continues to engage its member base in urging their Senators via phone calls, e-mails, and social media posts to protect our care and vote NO on any form of ACA repeal.
